Birthday portraits with BPC

Finding Her Light

I'll be darned if she didn't put on her serious face the minute the camera was ready to go - but she looks gorgeous nonetheless. Beautiful job Christine!!! :)

Princess Ella bids you a swell weekend

Online identity for the unborn gaining popularity

I suppose you can file this under the 'well, duh' category (because you are reading a kiddo blog launched pre-natally after all), but here's an interesting news piece on the gaining popularity of parents registering domain names for their babies.

However, I am feeling quite 'normal' in that our name choice didn't hinge around it's online availability:

"One of the criteria was, if we liked the name, the domain had to be available," Pankow said. It was, and Pankow quickly grabbed Bennett's online identity.

However, www.ellalaird.com is still available - although not for long as I am about to snatch it up :)  How far would you take the domain name obsession?  Geeks?  Techies?  Others?

One year old!

One year to the minute
Originally uploaded by happykatie.

Ella turned one year old yesterday and, to celebrate, the happyfamily took the day off to play and romp around.

You can check out some of our excursion in Ella's 1st Birthday album or, you know, just ask us about it. We like talking about such fun times.

So far, Ella is feeling good about being one year old. Christine BPC shot some fun photos of the birthday Bunn playing at the park, we went to Ikea and DOMY and just had an all-around fun day.

Thanks for all the love and birthday wishes!

Getting ready for a wonderful 1st birthday

Ella's 1st birthday is coming up on Tuesday, August 21st!!!!  Woo hoo!!!!  Are you in town this weekend and want to party?  Email me if you'd like to join us for a big garden party fiesta on Sunday, August 19th at 1pm and I'll send you an invite and directions :)

We're going with a fun garden theme and will have cupcakes by the gazillions and, I believe, over a dozen different yummy salads, grilled greatness and other amazing munchies for lunch.  Will be a wonderful time, hope to have you join us :)

The big news: Ella learns how to clap

Little elephants - a happy crafty blog for the kiddos

Littleelephants_blog

I met Véronique at Blogher this year and was quite taken by her sweetness and the name of her blog :)  Little Elephants is a kid-focused blog that chronicles the adventures of her family and gives great crafty project advice.

Her husband, also incredibly creative as seen by his very cool animated bio here, has a book out that I'm very excited to check out:   What's that noise?

The Little Elephants blog name came from growing up with her parents calling her and her siblings to dinner: "A table les petits éléphants!"  I think it's awesome, especially as my family has oft repeated a story of me calling my aunt to have a seat next to me at the top of the Eiffel Tower 'sit down my little elephant!' and Ella now has a mini herd of elephants as well.  What is it about those big-eared guys anyway??

Music to her ears - an early Ella birthday gift

Weloveella
Ella received an early birthday present from buddy JayMac - a shout out on his Low End Theory podcast and an Ella Fitzgerald song dedicated to her :)  It's a great version of 'Sunshine of your love' that I've actually never heard before, so we've got a new jam for the Bunn to dance to tonight!!
