Coming home from a day of website design and podcast discussion, I found a friendly-shaped package on my doorstep (words can’t say how much I love opening book parcels). It was my first book to review for AA Knapf!
It is so-far-so-good Booker Prize-nominated historical fiction novel by Julian Barnes called ‘Arthur & George’. It focuses on the experiences shared between Conan Doyle and another ‘real’ character, half-Parsi lawyer George Edalji, during a court case.
Edalji’s story is a sad one of racial prejudice and guilt – one that, upon hearing, prompts Doyle to save the day by helping prove his innocence. There’s been some super character and historical background in the first 100 pages or so – I’m enjoying the read immensely.
