Giveaway: EasyBloom = the cure for gardener’s black thumb Gadgets, gardening, Giveaway - December 19, 2009

 EasyBloom giveaway

I have an EasyBloom to give away on Monday – you can read my review post here, if you missed it.  It's a computer for your garden… which basically makes it the coolest plant-y/geeky object ever.

"We brought NASA Mars Rover Technology down to Earth, with the help of our Plant Doctors! The EasyBloom Plant Sensor uses patent-protected sensors to measure sunlight, temperature, soil moisture and drainage."

To win, just leave a comment here and/or Tweet (at-reply @happykatie) answering:
"What was the last plant you killed?"

I LOVE my EasyBloom – it's a pretty little thing that's easy to use regularly (I hate owning objects that are good for one thing only).  From plant location selection to unhappy plant diagnosis to watering needs, EasyBlooms are one of those garden items that you'll find yourself pulling out a lot.

Plop it in the dirt, plug it in your laptop and stop killing your plants already!!

I last killed a poinsettia just last week. It blew off the porch twice and it took me a day to get it up righted – poor thing!
Others on my hit list: cactus, ivy, flowers in the yard, bougainvillea (I have no idea how I killed bougainvillea in Houston!) I need a mafia name for my plant killing!

  2. Oooh I saw that thing once and thought it was the bee’s knees. I kill things so much I had to hire someone to tell me WHAT and WHERE to plant things, I’m that lame.
I just killed an azalea, and one of those indoor ivy things that are supposed to live forever.
I almost killed 10 baby live oaks (they were unexpectedly shipped from the Arbor Day Foundation) because I didn’t plant them right away, but this morning I dropped them off at a gardening center and they will give them a good home. :)
Thanks for reminding me about this thing – it makes great bday gifts…

I most recently killed a pencil cactus that my neighbor gave me… because I forgot about it and left it outside in the snow. I don’t have indoor houseplants because I know what will happen to them: I’ll forget them. But I think I really think I could be re-educated with the EasyBloom!

  4. I’ve never seen those before but they look pretty cool. And anything that can help me figure out why I keep killing innocent ferns is good with me. Sign me up!

  5. I had a good go of it with a geranium this past summer but then I had a baby and decided to make sure IT lived instead.

I have most recently killed some English Mint, but I think the worst was the killing of the lavender and/or the catnip I planted out back. Both of those really looked like they had a chance and then… nothing…. Just a few seedlings popping out. I was really hoping I could have some homegrown catnip for my fat cats.
